The jpegs don't do them justice. Black Bay is pretty spectacular in real space.
108” x 72” is pretty big!
And there is a hell of a lot more detail in the blacks too.
there seems to be a school emerging of messy/epic paintings, at least formally--you can see it in karen kliminic, tuymans, doig, even peyton--i see it here too
It had a Doig groove for me.
Oh look at me! I'm a critical writer! Woot.
i wasn't sure i liked it, but then i dont really like messy painting (it took me years to like joan mitchell, and i still don't like pollock) i will go back.
