Oh lord take me now...Another meat dress! This time with a comment thread! I wish we could revisit all the great historic art scandals in contemporary internet chit-chat mode. Here's my favourite comment from the boing boing thread, written in response to the predictable: why-aren't-you-feeding-poor-people-with -that-meat complaints.

@13 I think you'll be wildly impressed with me. I'm going to fry up a couple of packages of bacon, then walk around the neighborhood calling for hungry people. "BACON HERE! FREE BACON!"

I'll probably have to do it naked though, because I'll be giving away the material that I was going to make pants with.

Next thing you know, guitarists will be stealing riffs.

Good grief that is a funny comment! Good grief, people still get freaked out by meat art! Good grief, blissfully unaware of having stolen riffs off Jana Sterbak! Not necessarily in that order. Free bacon pants.

Winner of the so-called epic battle has to wear one of these!

"You are going to be working with an enzyme that bonds protein. You are made of protein. Unless you want to glue your lungs together or glue your eyelids to your eyeballs, you absolutely must follow these safety rules."
Gotta love that warning.

Speaking of riffs:

"Since then, [Ann] Simonton hasn't slowed down or toned down a bit. She's been arrested 11 times for her nonviolent and flamboyant protests. She captured national attention in 1982 when she wore a dress made of meat to denounce the Miss California Pageant, which used to be held in Santa Cruz. In one of the most effective statements known to feminism, Simonton and her cold-cuts sheath eventually sent the pageant packing. "
