No. Plus, I'm pretty sure noone would understand what they were saying. I think those French guys really benefit from the written word where the reader can reexamine a sentence many times to try and figure out what it is, exactly, that they're saying.

I agree. I didn't used to be a fan of that style of writing, but I'm kind of getting into it now. As Didi-Huberman points out in a book we are reading for school (Confronting Images), English is a good language for getting right to the point, but the European languages like French and German are good for other kinds of communication. Reading that stuff in translation is challenging. But better than not reading it at all, which would be my only other option.
