Now why would anyone want to adhere pieces of super-8 film onto 16mm film? Oh those wacky conceptual artists of the 70's....

OK, call me a geek but it always bugs me when the people cataloguing such works haven't got a remote understanding of the medium they are describing.

It reminds me of the last time I purchased some editing supplies at Rafik (sorry, no link available)-Cotton editing gloves, 16mm splicing tape and some china markers- The sales staff were whispering to each other as they eyed the supplies on the counter. Finally one of them approached me. "What do you use this stuff for?"
"Film editing"
"...er, tape or film.....I mean.....?"
"He means film editing" a sales girl said "Right?"
"Right" I said.
"That's how they edit..ed film" She turned to me "You actually do that then?"
"Sometimes, yeah"
"Wow" she said.
The young man stared through narrowed eyes at the meager film supplies forced to the corner of the display case by countless stacks of video tape stock.
"Film?"

Was it Clint Eastwood or post-presidential Ronald Reagon I felt like as I strode out of there? I really can't recall....

Those stacks of tape are probably moving slower than the china markers these days.
(cackling with glee)
