was outbid at the last moment but then the winner declined, so i got it anyway. its a piece now, but im still contemplating what i mean by it. the sellers name is "suzanneholdsthemirror" ( a LC ref.).

I think part of what I'm saying with this one is simply, its an appropriated seriel observation on one piece (of paper). Here the camera is a box within another (mobilized) box, the interior of the taxi.

To me, my "found photographic image" pieces are not generally nostalgic. That inspite of the obvious association of nostalia with vintage photography. I see clear examples of a historic recording process. Im hoping that distance created by recontextualisation is going to translate in the gallery.To achieve that distance I've decided to use formal device. I will mount the photos on the surface of the mat board rather than placing them inside a cut mat window. Then a conventional frame with glass. I think this will enhance the objecthood of the photo. By mounting the photo with paper hinges (rather than gluing it flat onto the surface) the viewer will also see the photos edges and the slight curve of its' shape. Its wholeness as an object giving context to the surface image and the frame providing archival protection. (notes in progress)
