designboom ed

dear designboom readers,
designboom's publication tries to combine two things:
the openness, outreach and democratizing influence of 'design'
knowledge and education and the ability of the web to make
vast amounts of information instantly available,
constantly widening access to information.
'if you post, be prepared to lose it' ...
it is right to say that by publishing online plagiarism is a risk
we take.

in terms of copyright law, gutenberg's printing press was a bombshell.
but what we potentially have today is a nuclear bomb!
in the last 5 years designboom has had its copyright infringed
by museum curators, print editors, design-centres,...

copyright infringement and abuse / misuse of design research etc.
has affected more people than I care to think about.
in order to work out ways to make it harder for the opportunist,
designboom is thinking of having a new interactive sector
- the 'copyrights ripped off' show.
you might want to discuss on topics ranging from the role of copyrights
and defense to copyright infringement, as well as its potential impact
on creative work related to design, graphics, publishing, photography...
you might want to tell others your own experience!
please comment if this is of interest.

... forgot to tell you that there is a new designboom design
competition - it's all about decoration and contemplation -
theme: 100% tiles !

keep on reading designboom
