i watched a pretty good documentary last night on 13 : Out! Rainbow Pride: A Story of the Rainbow Flag - This film traces the history and cultural significance of the rainbow flag. Designed in 1977 by San Francisco-based artist Gilbert Baker, it became the symbol of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered pride.

thats about the same time robin williams was sporting morky looking rainbow suspenders. and there were other glam rainbow applications around as well as i recall. they discuss the process of the image (now referred to as memes) being picked up and traveling to all points global from SF. they also mentioned that when it started to take off they had to switch out the pink and turquoise (as originally designed) to fabric colors which were readily avaible by the bolt to keep their flag makers in enough materials to keep up with the orders. they also sighted tackie gays who just dont know when to say enough with the rainbow flags already.

"God gave Noah that Rainbow sign;
Said it won't be water, but the fire next time."

But as Wordsworth said, "The Rainbow comes and goes..."
