george nelson daybed 1949 - manufactured by herman miller
i always thought this was an eames daybed. not so according to design booms history of day-beds. i bought a black cheepo knockoff (that im very happy with) from white on white (353 boadway) for $700.00. they are also available (of much better quality, but not twice better) from DWR (identified as the "case study" daybed) for $1500.00.
I've always wanted to have the Nelson bench with one of his credenzas on top of it. If I am correct Nelson created the "bench" as part of a modular system. One could put a cabinet on top of part of the bench, and use the remaining part as bench or seat or tabletop. You were supposed to create systems of furniture with one - or several - benches.
I am liking that green.
The word "daybed" sounds very glamorous.
I agree about the glamour! I need a daybed around here.
better than "pulling up a big ole piece of floor" ?

Later on it finally hit me
That you wouldn't be 'a comin' home no more
'Cause this time I know you won't forgive me
Like all of them other times before
Then I broke Elvis' nose
Pouring the last drop from his toes
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And so are you
Yabba Dabba Doo, the King is gone
And (so are you

Just reading this makes me feel hungover.
...now I really want a daybed.
