We would have gone in Houston but it's R and we had kids.
this review reads like someone explaining a joke. none the less we are still pushing this film.

I especially liked the tropical hotel partially underwater, and the cutaway of the ship, an homage to the Ladies Man, one of Jerry Lewis' best films. I laughed a lot during the first hour, but I was getting numb towards the end. One can only take so much quirky affected behavior. If Anderson's film career fails he could make a mint as a window dresser, and I don't mean that condescendingly. He has a brilliant eye for period (and every other kind of) detail. I also liked the saturated color stock and square format of the Cousteau-film parodies.
for a film with no real jokes (set up and delivery) i laughed pretty hard straight through. i have to confess to fatigue at the 2/3'rds mark too. not much plot or story line to speak of. i had pretty low expectations going in so i was pleased enough on balance.
