im struck by the similarities between these early desublimated stellas and the ebbing sublimation of rothkos seagrams mural series of the same year. the rothkos are referred to somewhere as "portal" like as they reference the (inside looking out) floor to ceiling windows of the four seasons rooms and the seagrams building in general. both artists call to mind haleys later cell forms.
