rat rod 1

this RR didnt sell. bidding went to $9,900.00 with twenty bids but didnt reach the minimum.

heres the sellers description :

You are looking at a one of a kind HOT ROD. First let me say this truck will be at the DETROIT AUTORAMA downstairs. Come see it for yourself. Take it home from there if you wish. This body is a 1934 Plymouth 4 door sedan that was cut down into a truck cab during the depression. Who ever did the work did great for the time. It is all welded and had finish lead and shiny black over everything. (at one time) Do to the rust and age, I reinforced all the cab with 1x1 box steel to give it the most rigidity. The doors are rusted out on the bottoms. The whole inside of the cab has been cleaned and lined with Dynamat, then painted with Dynamat spray to hide the look of Dynamat and give the body a cleaner appearance. Doors are done the same. The exterior finish on the body is how I found it. The bed is 35-36 dodge. It has been cut to mate to the front edge of the sedan back. The cab has been chopped 5” with a 3/4 inch wedge to the front. The windshield pillars have been layed back to meet the roof. (gives it that sinister “lakes racer look”) Windshield is fully operable. The roof is open (because it was a sedan) I have some hinged repop 32 ford hood sides on the top for a roof. They look cool with the louvers. The frame is 1932 Ford from the firewall forward. It is from a 1 ton 32 Ford farm truck, (identical except for the extra thick metal.) From there the frame steps down 15” and is all 2x3 box tubing, it steps up another 20” or so at the rear. All steps are fully gusseted; metal is 1/4 thick (Its strong) all front suspension is 32 Ford. Model A cross member with original spring reversed eye. The axle is an original Moor-Drop axle drilled. Round back ‘37 spindles with ‘40 brakes. Later ‘36 split front wishbones. The steering is drag link Ford f100 box (1956 era). The rear axle is a Ford 8” from a Maverick. It has a 3.00 open ratio. The rear has original ‘32 ford spring and cross member. The rear is setup with a four bar, and the lower bars are ‘40 ford rear wishbones. The Motor is a mild 283 from a ‘62 BelAir. The car had 52,000 original miles, so I took the motor apart reringed it and did the heads, and reassembled it on a stock bore. The cylinders had little to no ridge. It has 2 large logo Stromberg 97’s and lake style headers. The water, fuel and oil pumps have all been replaced. It holds great oil pressure and runs real strong. The Strombergs have been sent out and professionally rebuilt but not recoated to give it an older look. They are both functional and work perfect. The transmission is an old cast iron Saginaw 4-SPEED with hydraulic clutch. This was much harder to build, but way worth it in return when you drive it. HOT RODS HAVE 3 PEDALS. It works fine, but could easily be upgraded to an aluminum Muncie. The radiator is a NOS piece from the radiator shop. He thought it was from a Renault? Anyway it seems to cool it good enough, but if it is really hot (Texas, Arizona) I might suggest a thicker one. Right now it runs 200 all day long on a really hot OHIO day. 180 for the most part. This truck was built to have the “look”. It was designed and thought out each step of the way. We (the builders) are both artists and designers, and built everything to compliment the theme of “Old Hot Rod”. There is nothing on this truck that is standard mail order hot rod parts. This truck runs very strong and is a blast to drive. It gets more than its share of looks wherever you drive it. For only one summer it’s been drivable, and it’s only been to a few shows around the Midwest so it hasn’t been seen too much. Just think, you can tell all your buddies you built it yourself! It’s racked up well over 1500 freeway miles in road trips, plus drives locally. (I drive it to work almost every day) It has very little frills, and could use some interior, but I like it like it is, and it is functional. Yes, it squeaks, leaks, rattles and rolls; yes it is loud as hell. Yes, it rides stiff. And follows the cracks in the road. Yes, old ladies are afraid when they hear it. The truth is its Pure Hot Rod. If you can’t handle that please don’t bid on it. Oh yea it’s a 50 Ford pickup as far as the title goes. Who would know? (Yea you and me but not the law.) I tell people that’s what I started with. I will offer a 34 plymouth coach clear ohio title to the top bidder. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VALVE COVERS IN THE PHOTOS ARE NOW GONE. THEY DO NOT COME WITH THE TRUCK. TRUCK WILL COME WITH SOMETHING DIFFERENT BUT NOTHING CHEESY. (I HAVE TO SCROUNGE UP SOMETHING)
