you know im interested in and like to feature various readymade-photography art pieces on this page. considering the seriousness of the subject, i mean no disrespect for these two very sincere and talented artists and the show has (judging from these installation shots) strong formal and conceptual structural elegance. but doesnt that installation look like the freshman page from the national lampoon 1964 kefauver high school yearbook parody (reissued in 2003 as a 39th reunion edition). i lifted the following description from elsewhere on the net : "Its crowning glory has to be the High School yearbook parody. Kefauver High School Class 'o' '64. The JFK tributes,. the names of the class members (Ben Dover, C. Howard Fields, etc), the Freshman class so huge with each of their photos compressed onto one page and so small you need a magnifying glass to see them (Baby Boomer bust years)."

From the movie One Hour Photo: stalker/artist Robin Williams contemplates his grid of family snaphots. Ten years of the Yorkin family, all palmed at the photomat where he works:

One Hour Photo

As I recall, Joe Bob Briggs called Tom Noonan in Manhunter "the only psycho with a full time art director." Move over, Tom.

more on mr raad here.

Raad may not be pulling his viewers’ legs, but he may just be holding back the hint of a smile and cocking one eyebrow as if to suggest slyly, “You see? Things aren’t always as they seem.”

there is no hint of any cocked eybrow in the press release from the grey gallery or in the artforum blurb where i first caught wind of this show. i guess they didnt want to spoil the "photo-suprise."

here is some more on raad/the atlas group from the february 2003 issue of af
