heading out to the cleanest city in the usa later this week. portland or
ny is next to worst with chicago coming in last.
sending this one out to mark and his favorite shitty city, houston
you should see if you can go see that Wieden + Kennedy building by Brad Cloepfil.?.
Here is a site on Portland architecture. Have a great trip:
http://chatterbox.typepad.com/portlandarchitecture/
It's on our to do list. I've got a 24hr all access electronic key to the building. Been working there for the past year.
Is it in beaverton or portland?
I went once, but I can't remember exactly where it was. I do remember some nice cobblestone streets and good restaurants near by(?). I liked the neighborhood. I am confusing beaverton for portland because of their client Nike maybe?
anyway, excellent. have fun. take photos.
W/K is in downtown portland, specifically in an old industrial neighborhood gentrified and renamed "the pearl district" (the W/K building was originally an ice warehouse) Their main client Nike is located in Beaverton, which is a suburb of Portland.
Yes, there are some good restaurants in and around the pearl.
Bill, I must have 100 pics of Caldera if you're interested. And I've got a little residential archetecture tour in mind for your visit.
sounds great / any FLWright out there ?
And the world's costliest cities. Our New York comes in 13th.
nice contrast in materials. I am not sure about those columns though.
loving that fireplace. darn. look at the size of it in comparison to the piano - gives it a strange sense of scale.

The Hearth House at Caldera near Sisters Oregon, not Portland.
Maybe we can swing by when up at Mt. Hood.
