there was a national square dancing convention in portland during our recent visit. they were everywhere. it was like fear and loathing in portland with weirdly compelling septagenarians in mini skirts. these shots were taken at a promotional exhibition at the ice rink in the local mall

the dancers were pretty funny. the dance callers were the real attraction though. it was like they were trying to crash the dancers into each other on purpose.

Thanks for the photos. I was there - in the parade and dancing in the Lloyd Center. Most of your photos are of round dancers. I laugh at your initial comments describing us dancers. I am merely a sextegenarian, but I've square danced since I was a teenager, and still dancing 3-4 times a week. Glad I found you in Google. JC

jc, you guys rule and totally made our vacation in portland complete. every where we went in town that weekend there were cute couples in L7 dance garb. sorry for the age exaggeration. no disrespect intended. glad you found the photos.
