Interesting. The original plats were much more organized and gridded off than what's there now. Looks like Jersey Ave was once a continuous street where it now peters out into the footbridge. What we're calling the canal is labeled "tidewater basin" and it connected with the canal to the north and west. (BTW, the 1849 link is bad.)
