this is the best mapping SW ever, at least for looking at land use. One can zoom in, to 6" resolution photos. Power lines are visible. Then one can overlay topo, property boundaries, zoning, easements, roads, etc., etc. It's free for Santa Cruz County. For Santa Clara County, one needs a password. I guess it's just for county employees.

I don't know how widespread this application is.
