The top two are gorgeous. The third one is hilarious.

(I'm inspired to do some scanning of my strange collection)

Looks a bit like a place I know in Rotterda...whoa!... what's the story on the chicks in the above pic?

" The bidding is on a terrific lot of two original 1959 photographs showing "Beatniks in Greenwich Village"

Each of the two 8" by 10" photographs shows a Coffee House setting filled with young customers who are talking smoking and drinking coffee.

Both of the photos are marked on the back, "Photo by The News...N.Y. Daily News Photo"

Hand written on one of the photos is "2/16/59 Beatniks Greenwich Village"

Hand written on the other photo is "Beatniks 2/20/59""
photographer: "lets put those two fabulous babes front and center."

it has a somewhat staged quality (not exactly what i look for).

Everyone looks really affluent--it could be the West Village today. Staged is right--it looks like a play, or tableau vivant. I don't trust it, except as a fashion statement of a certain time period.

the fiction of greenwich village bohemianism is legendary. my guess on those two shots was that friends of the owner/manager were called in for the newspaper photographers shoot.
