kenny was laid off for refusing to drop the show title anal magic. on the show today he had a transitional moment with station manager ken. ken said kenny could mention the old name of the show but couldnt call the new show not anal magic. and he couldnt say anal magic over and over again, but he could say it a couple of times, in consideration of that fleeting thing with the fcc.

"Anal" is not a curse word, what the f*ck?

"ken said kenny could mention the old name of the show but couldnt call the new show not anal magic. and he couldnt say anal magic over and over again"

That was my best laugh for the day.

Does the FCC have a policy against oxymorons?

J. Stewart uses the phrase "anal play" frequently in comic bits. But he's cable.

The rationing of "anal" reminds me of a line from Be Cool. "Did you know that in order to get a PG-13 rating, a movie can only use the f-word once? You know what I say to that? Fuck that, I'm done."

the fcc has refused to make a specific list of taboo words or subjects. they had also recently exponentially increased the penalty for crossing the line which they stubbornly ill define. (see link in third comment in this thread) kenny has made a radio career of messing with that territory and has had a couple of time outs already. ken has the unenviable job of having to both support the creativity of the dj's and protect the station from the consequences of fcc complaints which recently had been boosted to the point of possibly mortally crippling a small not for profit station. so in the past couple of years Ken has had to err on the careful side. he knows it and we knows it. them talking about it yesterday was a sign that sanity might possibly again be in reach. here is some more of the FCC and station's history from beware the blog posts.

It figures that the talons of the Christian right would grip the FCC like every other federal agency under Bush. The 2nd Circuit decision was smart to mention that the President and Veep swear like stevedores while insisting others live in Mr Rogers' neighborhood.

caught the show yesterday on the way into the city, i would say he exceeded "a couple of times" by a mile.
