The color timers at the labs I've worked with refer to these as china girls none of them can tell me the origin of the name either.

I shrieked with happiness whenever I saw the 'Indian' (and I just did it again when I clicked the link).
hadn't seen that one before. I remember one where the indian's head filled most of the large circle.
