I've made loads of fun of all those bad twig and feather artists, but those links are pretty wonderful.
i think it has to do with purposefulness and that when basket weaving informs architecture something good is happening in a purposeful way. rather than art copping a look. EXCEPT when roger welch does it. hat tip to j quinn.
