i ran in to this shit trying to drag an ebay photo image to my desktop today

end of an era

I get those all the time. If I really want the image I save the whole web page to my hard drive and extract the jpeg from the folder.

Perhaps Jim knows an easier way.

I'm on a PC, but use my Firefox 'Visual Bookmarks' add-on whenever I run into that. Works okay.

i don't know if this pops up everytime, but i got an ad for sitepal - a crude version of the CG "porn" jim posted on the other board. http://www.sitepal.com/

hey thanks! umm site pal-y. "Isn't this the most annoying script since BLINK?!" is what was messing me up though. i just downloaded firefox and will mess with that for a while. (so far its running very fast compared to safari.) there are three cabinet photos of dynamite explosions i want to snag for an up coming construction site photo thread. thanks again!

Can you give me a link to a page that has a photo you can't drag off to your desktop? There are various tricks that make it difficult, but they are all defeatable in one way or another.

boom (the big one) and two others the sellers has from the same series.

Yeah, if you click on it you get the javascript pop up. But just ctrl-click in Safari and hold and you'll get a pop up menu where you can choose 'save to..." and you'll get it. Are you still running 10.4 (Tiger)? You must be if FireFox seems a lot faster to you. The latest Safari running on 10.5 is blazingly fast. Still, FireFox does have better plug-ins, and it's a very good browser all around, so use whatever feels better. Bring your machine next time we get together and I'll help you upgrade to 10.5 .

For BOOM, all I did was right click and hit "save image as" - I ignored the pop-up. Firefox over-rode it.
