SI is the brainchild of Paul Petrunia, who owns archinect. They created it 'cause archinect is no longer any real money from ads, and his web company developed a nice little program that does the scraping for them. They scrape OUR hard work, in seconds. Nice, huh? I had an email conversation with Paul, and basically he's just gonna do what he wants to do, even though he says he doesn't want to step on people's toes" (too much). Hey, it's a free country. Fuck it.

If you could figure out the scrapers IP address (shouldn't be too hard if you have access to your referrer logs) you could block it. Justin, for typepad the instructions are here. Bill, I could block it from your page if you thought it was scraping here.

For typepad, I can't access the referrer logs, and it wouldn't work anyway, because they subscribe to the feed. Not to worry: my new web guy is designing a whole new blog platform for me, and it should work well enough so that they can't scrape from the feed. Plus, he's got all sorts of little tricks up his sleeve..... :)
