fake because I'm on the outside looking in on architecture. no degree or scholarly pedigree of any kind. [more a disclaimer than an excuse, i hope] the Schwarz page is an out-shoot of being able to research areas of curiosity on the internet. it started out (and largely remains) a series of bookmarks of recent discoveries and old favorites.

yes indeed, re the martha factor. what hadid readings do you recommend?

really glad you like the page and the tree in general - check the archives if you like. you will find our norman foster parabuilding argument. it was a high water mark imho. that and the will alsop ocad building post. and for that matter, tom's yba "is it art?" post was a whole lot of fun. i cant find it at the moment, maybe he could make a link if he has his ears on.

Thank you for the links.
I'd love to see the young british artist conversation too.
I'll dig up some reading links on Zaha Hadid, but in the meantime:
Monday, March 29
Columbia University
Signature Buildings
With Aaron Betsky, Director, Netherlands Architecture Institute;
Zaha Hadid, Principal, Zaha Hadid Architects;
and Daniel Libeskind, Principal, Studio Daniel Libeskind

Moderated by Joseph Giovannini, architect and architecture critic, New York Magazine

Three institutions:

Netherlands Architecture Institute (take a look at "the Big Fix-Up” exhibition now on)

The Canadian Centre for Architecture (founded by Phyllis Lambert, daughter to Seagram and responsible for talking her father into commissioning Mies van der Rohe to design the Seagrams building on Park Avenue. She also curated the Whitney side of the Mies Whitney MoMA exhibitions a few years back).

MAK Vienna
(Just so this appears to be a bit relevant to our last comments - which it is not really - they did a retrospective of Zaha Hadid’s work sometime last year with a terrific publication).
