It’s an interesting overview, but in typical Times fashion he doesn’t pass many judgments. He talks about major changes in the nature of the city without a sense of whether we should be concerned about where we’re going. The business about the urbanization of the outer boroughs is interesting, but to speak of the East River as a connecting spine is sort of silly; it remains a barrier, otherwise I’d be walking to work.
