i think there was a fatal flaw with the premiss of the panel discussion. blogging is akin to a looking over the shoulder experience. for instance if the person your sitting next to on the subway is reading a page of the post youve either already read or have no interest in your eyes move on to something else. no one is twisting anyones arm to read your/this page. you are an expert in a nitch area of interest. your audience is primarily a) people who googled something contained in your text. or b) come on referral from a trusted source. what would the odds have been in finding someone whos interested in what you all are interested in*. one would imagine it to be larger than it is in reality especially in a new media group. ive checked out alot of the self promotional links that many list members have provided and they mostly suck. ...mostly really suck. they should have been just as curious and checked into your work but they preferred to switch the subject to something they actually do care about, themselves. and their pet projects.

what i cant get over though is hr's pomp and hypocrisy. his default setting of "authority voice" has to be earned and re-earned monthly. you arent an authority on a say so basis. the other members wont call him out because they are looking for his approval and/or it would lead to a wholesale unmasking of the entire lot as second rate thinkers and third rate doers. it is no ones job to set him/them straight. god bless criss for his efforts none the less.

*then again blog ideas randomly explode and you wake up one morning and your server has crashed from too many hits and you wind up owing them allot of money for your trouble.
