on tonights news-hour they ran a story on the health hazards of re-inhabiting NO. the usual stuff on mold but also focusing on the need to be wary of dried toxic sludge. the sediment residue left behind when the waters receded. they showed close ups of mud-clods, inches thick forming those multi sided patterns in yards and elsewhere. they warned of breathing it in as broken up particulate matter and any handling of it at all. recommending gloves and masks because it contained carcinogenic petroleum and heavy metals. also that the epa is soft-balling risk. that the mayor is in charge of allowing people in. oks for reentry based on tests that were were gaged to short term exposure.
