notes :

likes new moma. "a conservative building."

when CR brought up bilboa as most significant building of 20c. NO said he doesnt do top tens. switched subject to disney concert hall. "gehrys most conservative building."

on ground zero: said in effect n. fosters design would have thwarted struggle over not giving up control to the architects. instead they used the architects. reference to families was veiled reference to "patriotic notions."

and regarding new orleans: faulted regan prop 13 to dismantle the social infrastructure.

take away impression: he loves zaha and rem. and mentioned that sine now all the big museums and concert halls have been built that we are entering an age of developer buildings. added risk is that architects are used for dressing rather than developing new ideas.

I think the last point you paraphrase :-) was well made, and important.

Did you think Rose was being very aggressive in his questioning about MoMA and then Gehry? It felt there was something else going on there.
Rose loves MoMA and wanted all the dish on NO's fight with Terry Riley, NO played it safe in his answer. Rose loves Gehry, NO decided to play it safe in his answer.
I was really happy about his comments on Daniel Libeskind though. A needed confirmation, and certainly a final blow.
