Hi. I am chiming in late on this. Bill I saw the interview with NO the night it aired. I thought mostly, well, boring. Rose does go a bit crazy, even for him, on the leading questions and cutting in. I think for a newcomer NO does a pretty good job at standing ground (especially CR was a huge fan of Muschamp and he actually considers himself an impresario of architecture. Gossip: Charlie Rose and Amanda Burden were a couple for many years and just broke up - interesting mention. Rose's favorite architects are Frank Gehry and Eisenman). I am not sure I am qualified to go into the public housing question, but I do think Holland and the UK are actually working with good architects on building interesting public housing - and it is an interesting forum for competitions (where the US commissions, and does not open the door to younger architects - or non-gov contracted - in general).
The Zaha statements were interesting and over the top. Rem was her teacher. It is strange she is talked about as the same generation.
For what it is worth.
(Oh, and the night before the NO interview, I fell in love with Reed Hastings on Charlie Rose. I thought of you all and wondered if what he was saying about the internet just sounded good, or if it had merit. If you see a notice for re-broadcast take a look if you have a minute).
