Frank Gehry bought property on the
West Boulder Reserve near McLeod, Montana,
while I was employed there as their caretaker, that is
fence mender who could speak both
efffluent redneck & affluent prepster. He intended
to build a mansion with a copper roof
in the shape of a giant eagle spreadeagled.
Thinking I was his own asskissing lawnboy he asked me
what I thought & I told him it was about the most assinine
thing I'd ever seen plans for & the canyon above it would probably
slide & bury it with grey limestone. Poor me, no invite to the Bruce Weber bash!
I took to drinking gin, pulling tubes while driving without
headlights & was terminated long before the project
ever started but was informed by a subsequent caretaker
that two weeks after they broke ground the property was
hit by a slide & Gehry sold to some troutwhacker from New Jersey
with more modest plans. A few years ago I saw his giant glass fish at the Walker,
what a waste: Megalomaniacal Martha Stewart on Halcyon.
Phew ! for a second, I thought my stalker was back. We are in the minority frank, most folks do back flips for the guy.
