Bribing your way into restaurants (via kottke) Seems more sensible to just eat at 10:00 instead of 8:00, but I guess there are people who do this.
i call this "the power of the 20."
although it FEELS completely ilicit and wrong, it is, in fact, not only tolerated but actively welcomed in a remarkable array of service situations.
for instance, i told 2 friends about the power of the 20 last year and they were able to convert a 4 hour layover to 2 seats on an immediately departing flight by dropping it on the _ticket agent_!
