amon imberico
Until now it has been unavailable in the U.S. Finally last fall the first producer in Spain was approved by the U.S. Government to export Iberico products to the U.S. Of course it takes a couple of years to produce a Jamon, so we are taking deposits on the scarce first shipments which will arrive in 2007-2008.

bill the acorn shit is to die/live for, legs will be limited, some of the top purr-vayors are taking deposits, a seconday market may happen, its one of the most delish foods on the earth, like tartufo bianco....

$1800 a leg is the estimate!!

but we had some of the sausage upstairs recently and it’s luscious if ludicrous as a fetish item.
Like they said in the 60’s:
Eat the Pigs!

At those prices, I'm thinking I should fly to Spain for a ham sandwich before committing to the whole hog ... er .. leg.

bought some of this today at Despana......$159 a pound (came from a de boned hunk).......

have ot tasted but sister loved it and brother spit it out (crazy fool, and strange he loves san danieli but he doesnt like serrano )

$30 worth would be enough for 3 people for a nice app, not crazy really at $10 a head......
