i have two trays of tomato and basil seedlings happily growing in my office window - great southern exposure and a consistent warm temperature unlike our house which is under construction. (although steve did hook up our new gas fireplace yesterday - yay!) i think i need to transplant them soon into small pots and let them get a bit sturdier before planting in the ground. i am a newbie community gardener with a 20x 20 plot a few blocks away from the firehouse. lots to learn!

that sounds like a lot of work. lucy will have fun digging for worms. we did a lot of creeping plants and grasses in our garden that would just get all lush and overgrown, not so much flowering plants and not much maintenance. it looks nice, by end of summer though it's a bit wild. good luck!

Hey, I know that place! We buy both plants and 'maters there. Her gardens are incredible.

Lucy is afraid of worms.

  • transplanted 6 tomato plants and 6 basil plants into bigger pots yesterday. that should take up one of the four beds. i might just plant some compost crops in at least one of the other beds, 20 x 20 is huge for a first time gardener !
