i dj'ed there a few weekends ago and the owner was, how do you say? oh yea, a racist prick.
specifically, he informed me, abruptly and unceremoniously, that I should not play any hiphop, and that if I did play any hiphop, he would personally throw me off the decks.
i was doing a favor for a friend's birthday so i stayed and did the gig (hadn't been planning to play hiphop anyway).
but the message was pretty clear. I had the same thing in LA once: "don't play hiphop, we have a different type of crowd here".
i won't be back.
