I can imagine no explanation for this. I'm tempted to not even comment, since it is so ridiculous, but I can't help myself.
I think Grimes has no clue. He should be doing food reviews for Maxim. Too intellectual? That's a criticism? This is like Roberta Smith saying "I don't like this painting because it's too difficult to understand - it should have some puppy dogs in it, maybe playing cards, that would be cute."
If there was a surprise it should have been 4 stars, not 2.
The only good thing about this is that Grimes has painted himself into a corner. How can he ever give a place 3 stars again? It's now impossible.
