never heard of this but worth a look tonight on hbo2, Shadow of the Vampire.

Premised on the notion that F.W. Murnau's silent horror classic Nosferatu was actually a documentary, Shadow of the Vampire manages to turn a highly dubious concept into a subtle and deliciously mordant comedy.

Chuck Jones fest on TCM tonight. Jim & I were talking about this the other day. Documentary, classic Looney Tunes and The Phantom Tollbooth, which I may revisit having seen it when it was released in 1970. I was disappointed at the time, but that was usually the case with anything where I’d read the book first. Maybe it looks better now.

Shot entirely in high definition, DOING DAVINCI puts a modern twist on the classics, taking viewers through the build process to determine whether daVinci's designs can be constructed to function as he had envisioned. Using materials only available in daVinci's time, the team works each week to construct his inventions -- from a futuristic armored tank to a towering three-story siege ladder to a scythe chariot - to determine how realistic each design really is and whether his genius ideas are better left in the history books.

sci fi, the so-called science fiction channel has experienced some channel drift in recent years like so many other channels. i think there was much outcry among its geekcore when they added professional wrestling to its schedule. well, theyve decided to outmanuever the geeks by rebranding the network, its now syfy. see, now we can program whatever stupid shit we want. suck on that, spock, or his battlestar galactica equivalent! coming soon, ice truckers on mars!
