The cover with the MAD mischief stickers is memorable. My brothers bought it and I remember being puzzled over a sticker that said "Support the Masters and Johnson Act", so I went to a teacher of mine, Steve Koziki, also a hockey player, and asked him what it meant. He didn't know either, so we scoured the library looking in the card catalog, plus all the dictionaries and encyclopedias looking up Masters and Johnson. Never found it that day, so he said he'd ask some of the other teachers for me.

He never got back to me on that.

Thanks--very informative.
Morley Safer--nuclear power apologist and connoisseur of humor and art (didn't he roast Koons, et al around the same time?)
A Bill Gaines story from around the time of those HUAC hearings:
The congressmen were grilling him about the disgusting imagery in EC horror comics. One said, "how can you show a child this severed head?" Gaines replied (not an exact quote), "Note the way it is drawn, though. The lower part of the head is tilted away from the viewer. The viewer can't see the sliced open cross section of the neck. That would be disgusting and disturbing and we didn't do it."

Just thought the Sarah Palin prank call should be cataloged somewhere so I'm dropping it here. I thought it was sort of ominous how she asked for the station's call letters at the end. Hope these guys have body guards. I have a feeling she is going to hold a grudge about this for a long time. Once again though, Canadian humor enriches the U.S.

That call was really embarrassing to listen to. (especially the twittering in the background between Palin and her handlers)
