a history of british humor
Benny Hill "is still widely regarded as a comic genius" in the U.S. and France?

i watched benny hill as a kid. doubt id consider it funny now. genius and benny hill are not two things id likely think of as going together. im sure as much as anything i was attracted to the ribaldry. i might appreciate some of the wordplay more in his singsong than i did at the time. the old guy he patted on the head was the true genius.
i think i downloaded some of the gervais podcasts but only listened to a bit of one. i didnt really care for what i heard which makes the genius of the office and extras all the more surprising.
Give them another try. I laughed myself sick, thought they were even better than his TV shows.
The Extras Xmas special made me cry but that just could have been a sugar crash after all the chocolate this season.
i look to bh as a repository of all humor. but mostly of vaudeville borsht schtick stuff.
a mega-miltie rapid-fire archival compilation of the lowest common denomination.
benny hill rocks!!
I reckon I'd still find leather pants on a leather sofa bit hilarious.
