had to walk 2.3 miles to get to the only place that bakes fresh bagels on site. theres a place near me that gets them delivered otherwise its all deli bagels or supermarket. just saw theres one up in riverdale or thereabouts not far from the bjs wholesale club but its still probably 2 miles. hard to believe there isnt one more on either 181 st or up the hill on 187th where theres a few restaurants, a bakery and some jews. mikes bagels was down on 168th which is convenient as its right next to an a train so walk down train back but there was one new "gem" at least for this area. was $15 for a panini but ill ignore that for the moment. only got a bread so was a pretty bread-y outing.
also getting an asian market in a new building up going up around 218th where the twin donuts used to be. you know the one, around the corner from the columbia football stadium. go utes! right right, bulldogs. i think. not sure who is expected to shop there as it borders a dead zone but hope to be pleasantly surprised. one day that area will be all built up i decree.

$40 is a lot, right, for 8 madeleines? are they supersized?
There are signs that Spaniards are eating earlier in the evening. Experts say it could make for a healthier country, but not everyone is ready to part with the custom.
