Hank and Peggy Hill are back in Arlen, Texas, and not just because Hulu is reviving King of the Hill. Turns out they’ve been away from the Lone Star State for a long time, because Hank took his propane-and-propane-accessory talents overseas to a new job in Saudi Arabia. The upcoming season, which premieres on August 4, takes place in the present day as Hank and Peggy return to a somewhat different America.

WIth more time on my hands, and one of Bay Ridge's amenities being a movie theater, I figure maybe I'll try to see more films. Not that there are a lot of mainstream movies that I'm motivated by, but I did note Sinners getting good reviews across a range of viewpoints so I went and I thought it was pretty good. For the depression-era setting and use of music it was kind of like O Brother Where Art Thou but from a black perspective and crossed with Night of the Living Dead. I'm not particullarly an aficianado of vampire movies but have seen a good many going back to when I was 7 and my dad woke me up for Dracula on latenight TV. I've now seen two in six months after going with Bill and Robin to Nosferatu around Christmas. Sinners was a lot better, and gets points for being an original idea in the era of remakes. Plus Hailee Steinfeld.

Maybe he wants his old job back? Portland Public Schools has posted a job opening for a Lincoln boys basketball head coaching position for the 2025–26 school year. after watching a clip from this press conference announcing the winningest coach of all time in the nba is stepping back from coaching and will be "president of basketball operations" for the san antonio spurs i had the audacity on social media to suggest that maybe he should retire and then likened him to the democratic gerontocracy that cant let go either. popovich is 76 and had a debilitating stroke six months ago from which he is still obviously recovering. also, he was rushed to the hospital sometime in the last few weeks after "passing out" at a restaurant the details of which were sketchy at best.
in response ive been called a variety of things akin to stupid, heartless and crass. i made a suggestion to one that if they were not interested in my opinion they were free to block me and 12 people that i do not know nor have interacted with have taken me up on that offer. in 15 years of social media ive never fomented so much ire. its pretty fucking hilarious.
