there was some click bait-y article about a "concern" over an easter candy shortage because one truck containing tons of a candy bar that to my knowledge no one has ever associated with easter had been hijacked somewhere in europe. got a lot of derision in the ensuing thread that it was bullshit and just overhyped for pr purposes. today im seeing stories in the financial press how the story has become a pr victory for the brand.
and dont get me started on marmite.
off soccer the last few years and the fact that we are hosting it makes it that much worse which is saying something as supposedly 1000s of temporary workers died building the infrastructure in qatar for the 2022 games. maybe ill come around in the doldrums of summer but would be apropos if i did not watch as the last world cup i didnt see was the 94 games in the us. started watching in 98 when france won in france!
anyway. this just caught my eye. qualifying is europe is by far the most difficult region.
Four-time champions Italy missed out on a third consecutive World Cup after losing to host Bosnia and Herzegovina in a penalty shootout in its playoff final Tuesday in Zenica.

"The Mendoza festival was marking its 90th year as domestic wine consumption in Argentina plummeted to an all-time low of 15.7 liters (4.1 gallons) per person in 2025, according to the National Institute of Viticulture, or INV. Compare that to 1970, when Argentines consumed as much as 90 liters (24 gallons) per person annually. Furthermore, 1,100 vineyards have shut down across the country and 3,276 hectares (8095 acres) of grape production have vanished."
90 liters is 10 cases = 108 bottles so almost 3 a week, now its like 3 large glasses a week.
dat ass!!!
