Bill, Did you see this one?

how to watch the world cup like a true soccer nerd is a useful primer about positions, positioning, terminology & tactics.

i saw neighbors so you dont have to! i only agreed to see it once i was offered a free ticket. i am a canny negotiator. im surprised at all the glowing reviews. it had some laughter inducing gags but as a whole it didnt amount to much. rose byrne was pretty funny loosed from her normally uptight roles but essentially its a movie you might be pleasantly surprised if you encountered on cable and not much beyond that.

super sporty month except for me on my couch.

watching some of the french open semifinals. women today, men tommorow. sharapova got through to the finals. dont know either of the women playing now but im rooting for the feisty little romanian who is currently #4 in the world, simona halep, against her tall teutonic foe. slugging it out in the second set at the moment on nbc. nadal v. murray at 11am est tomorrow. djokovic v. gulbis at 7am est.

later tonight the nba finals gets underway. its a rematch between last years finalists miami and san antonio.

the world cup and us open golf at pinehurst both start next thursday.

and wimbledon begins on the 23rd.

Can't find stevedo's comment about gluten in portland's water supply... hilarious

don zimmer was chagrined. he did not want to live in a world without ecstasy. by the time someone explained to him that only the creator of ecstasy ceased to exist so had he. but ultimately don zimmer was confused. he thought they were talking about chaw which was the only thing that truly made him happy.

Had a nice meal at Batard, the new Nieporent venture in the old Montrachet space. Less fussy, and less over worked, than the Corton incarnation. But in the same ball park. I give it pretty high marks, but I wonder what the critics will think. Or, rather, I just think they won't like it much. Not sure why, since the food is very good. There's just nothing "now" about it. But I mean that as a criticism of the critics as much as of the restaurant.

cant remember the last time i watched hockey. about as often as the rangers make the stanley cup final. so about every twenty years. pucks just about to drop for game one on nbc with the rangers taking on the la kings.. i think the play by play guy is an old rangers announcer so it takes me right back to 1983.

TAKE HIS HEAD OFF!!

its the one youve been waiting for, a "star-studded" panel discussion celebrating the 35th anniversary of wkrp. streams live at 1030 est.
